OPmobility Signs MoU with Hyundai Mobis on Lighting Business

A MoU explores acquisition of a controlling stake in an automotive lighting business, with negotiations underway to combine operations and target a potential final agreement in 2026

PARIS, France, Jan 27, 2026 – OPmobility has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Hyundai Mobis to explore acquiring a controlling stake in its lighting activity. The partnership would expand OPmobility’s automotive lighting portfolio and customer reach, with the companies targeting a final agreement in 2026.

The companies expect a combined lighting operation to scale up and strengthen technical capabilities while reducing costs. Transaction terms will be defined during the negotiation process.

Félicie Burelle, chief executive officer of OPmobility, stated: “This transaction with Hyundai Mobis would be a great recognition of our leading industrial capabilities and our robust product portfolio for a more sustainable, safer, and connected mobility. The potential combination of our lighting businesses would represent a strategic milestone in the development of our lighting activity, since its launch at the end of 2022. Expanding our business with additional global customers would contribute to accelerating our diversification strategy in geographies and customers.”
