AUSTIN, TX (Oracle Edge Customer Summit), Apr 15, 2026 – Oracle is addressing a common failure point in capital projects: disconnected reviews and gaps in inspection workflows that lead to errors and rework. Its latest Oracle Aconex updates streamline project reviews, manage Inspection and Test Plans (ITP), linking reviews, approvals, inspections, and documentation within a single contractual system of record to improve quality and support compliance.

“In construction and engineering projects, owners, contractors, and other stakeholders expect a clear record of what happened including when decisions were made, and what information supported the work performed,” said Mark Webster, senior vice president and general manager, Oracle Infrastructure Industries. “The new Oracle Aconex enhancements help organizations collaborate with confidence, knowing the project system is tracking all material changes for improved traceability and control across the full lifecycle of a project.”

Connected, Traceable Document Workflows

Many project teams rely on spreadsheets to manage review comments, which adds manual work and increases the risk of errors. The Oracle Aconex update replaces those methods with integrated workflows for documents, drawings, and models. Comments and resolution steps stay linked to Aconex’s centralized document register, while built-in audit trail functionality record each review action.

A metadata-driven review matrix routes documents through predefined approval sequences and distributes deliverables across teams. This keeps review cycles aligned and easier to track across organizations. Oracle also introduced an observation module in Aconex to standardize observation data collection and safety workflows. Teams can record site observations in a structured format and use that data in predictive analysis within Advisor for Safety.

Managing ITPs with Full Visibility and Accountability

For projects that require ITPs, Aconex provides a workflow connected to project documentation. Test plans link to version-controlled records, allowing teams to build and execute ITPs with traceable inputs.

ITP managers can develop test plans, assign roles and responsibilities, and track progress through configurable workflows. During inspections, teams capture supporting evidence, record decisions, and maintain audit-ready logs of all ITP activity. Completed work can be compiled into exportable documentation packages.
