EAST HARTFORD, CT, July 16, 2026 – Pratt & Whitney has acquired Amsterdam-based Aiir Innovations, adding AI-assisted borescope software to how it inspects commercial, civil and military engines. The software applies artificial intelligence to borescope video, giving inspectors faster, more repeatable assessments of engine condition.
The system adapts to inspector feedback, adjusting its classification performance based on that input. It also includes configurable reporting features that let inspectors generate documentation with defined levels of detail and traceability.
Pratt & Whitney has applied the technology to the V2500 engine and completed pilot programs on the GTF and F135 engines. The company plans to expand use of the software across additional engine programs. The software has also been rolled out to commercial customers and MRO (maintenance, repair and overhaul) providers, where it has reduced inspection times.
