Singapore, Sep 19, 2025 – Pratt & Whitney Canada signed a 15-year maintenance agreement with Singapore Airlines for 34 APS5000 auxiliary power units (APUs) which support the airline’s fleet of Boeing 787 Dreamliner passenger jets.

“The agreement covers tailored maintenance solutions designed to provide peak performance, predictable costs, and long-term reliability of the APS5000, exclusively designed for the wide-body, twin-aisle Boeing 787 Dreamliner and which is the industry’s first all-electric APU,” said Anthony Rossi, vice president customer service, Pratt & Whitney Canada.

“The APS5000 greatly contributes to Singapore Airlines impressive dispatch reliability on the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. Its advanced design delivers improved fuel efficiency, reduced emissions, and enhanced maintainability, setting a new benchmark in auxiliary power technology. This maintenance contract helps ensure the APUs continue to meet our OEM standards, supporting Singapore Airlines in keeping its operations running smoothly and focused on delivering a great flying experience.”

The APS5000 auxiliary power unit (APU) generates 450 kVA of electrical power at sea level and can start and operate at altitudes up to 43,100 feet. More than 1,400 units have been manufactured, with the fleet flown nearly 16 million hours. Pratt & Whitney Canada offers maintenance programs for its APU fleet to support scheduled service intervals, address performance requirements, and assist with operating cost planning.
