BOSTON, MA, Jan 28, 2026 – PTC has released Windchill AI Parts Rationalization, adding AI-driven analysis to its Windchill product lifecycle management (PLM) solution. The capability embeds AI into parts workflows to reduce duplicate parts, improve search accuracy, and standardize part data, helping limit higher costs and slower development cycles.

Windchill AI Parts Rationalization applies AI to find duplicate and redundant parts and support consolidation through existing change workflows. Deployed as a plugin, it allows teams to adopt AI capabilities with minimal operational impact. The result is lower inventory and carrying costs, improved part data quality and effective collaboration across product teams.

“Getting part data right is foundational for modern product development, but it becomes increasingly difficult to maintain as product lines grow, systems multiply, and organizational complexity expands,” said John Haller, general manager of Windchill, PTC. “We designed the AI Parts Rationalization capability to help our customers cut through that complexity, allowing them to spend less time managing duplicate parts and cleaning up data, and more time focused on building better products.”

PTC is expanding Windchill AI to automate additional parts classification and reuse decisions. Planned enhancements include smart-assisted classification, in-design part reuse, schema guidance, and tools to track duplicates and compare material and cost data.

PTC frames Windchill as the central data layer in its Intelligent Product Lifecycle strategy. The platform grounds engineering data and extends it across the enterprise. Alongside Creo AICodebeamer AIServiceMax AIOnshape AI, and Arena AI, Windchill enables AI use across design, manufacturing, and service workflows.
