At its inaugural PTC Next event in Chicago, PTC unveiled a broad set of artificial intelligence initiatives designed to embed AI throughout the product lifecycle. The announcements signal a major step in the company’s strategy to help manufacturers and product developers gain more value from engineering and operational data while improving productivity across design, manufacturing, and service functions, tells Develop 3D.
The centerpiece of the launch was the introduction of two new cloud-native platforms: PTC Orbit and PTC Jetstream. Orbit is designed to serve as a single, trusted source of asset-centric information by connecting data from PLM, ERP, CRM, IoT, enterprise asset management, and field service systems. AI is used to maintain data quality and make information more accessible across the organization. Jetstream focuses on collaboration, enabling internal and external teams to share product data, review designs, and capture traceable feedback while remaining connected to CAD, PLM, and application lifecycle management environments.
PTC also previewed a new AI platform that establishes what it calls an “Intelligence Layer” across its software portfolio. The platform includes 12 AI agents and is intended to extend the value of product data throughout the enterprise. In addition, the company announced 10 new integrations, including connections with NVIDIA Omniverse, Onshape, Windchill, ServiceMax, ERP systems, and Altium 365.
Several flagship products received AI-focused enhancements. Creo now incorporates AI-assisted engineering capabilities aimed at improving productivity in areas such as model-based definition, simulation-driven optimization, composite design, manufacturing, and electrification. Onshape gains expanded AI-assisted design feedback, robotics simulation capabilities, and stronger ECAD-MCAD collaboration. Windchill introduces AI-assisted workflows, improved digital thread connectivity, and a modernized user experience to support collaboration across engineering, manufacturing, and service teams.
The announcements reflect PTC’s vision of an intelligent product lifecycle in which AI helps connect traditionally separate systems, streamline decision-making, and accelerate digital transformation. By embedding AI across its portfolio rather than treating it as a standalone feature, PTC aims to create a more connected engineering environment where product data can be leveraged throughout an organization.
