BOSTON, MA, Jan 17, 2026 – PTC has released updates to its application lifecycle management (ALM) portfolio, including Codebeamer 3.2, Codebeamer AI 1.0, and Pure Variants 7.2. The releases address growing software complexity and regulatory pressure. The updates strengthen requirements traceability, change management, and configuration control across regulated development environments. PTC also introduces governed AI assistance designed to operate within defined quality and compliance frameworks. The ALM updates support teams in automotive, medtech, federal, aerospace, and defense programs that require auditable workflows. Together, the releases extend PTC’s ALM platform as a system of record for software development and requirements management.

“Our customers’ products are becoming increasingly complex and software-driven, and they need confidence that every change, requirement, and decision is connected across the product lifecycle,” said Enrique Krajmalnik, general manager of ALM, PTC. “Codebeamer 3.2, Codebeamer AI 1.0, and Pure Variants 7.2 will help our customers continue to modernize their software development and requirements management efforts, build a stronger product data foundation for managing complexity, and apply AI effectively and responsibly.”

Codebeamer 3.2 and Pure Variants 7.2 introduce new features and enhancements, including:

  • Digital thread integrations connect Codebeamer with Windchill product lifecycle management (PLM) and other enterprise systems, enabling requirements traceability, change management, and compliance across software and hardware development while reducing manual work and integration risk.
  • Stream Baselines capture project snapshots within a stream, providing consistent baselines and simplifying change management across portfolios.
  • UI upgrades to the Review Hub enable bulk approvals and rejections, clearer notifications, and visual diff highlights, helping teams complete reviews faster with fewer errors.
  • Feature-Based PLE automates stream and baseline creation and uses Delta Merge (Beta) to support concurrent platform and variant development while improving product line reuse.

Codebeamer AI 1.0 introduces two new AI assistants: the Requirements Assistant and the Test Case Assistant. The Requirements Assistant applies INCOSE and ISTQB guidance to automatically identify quality issues and reduce dependence on manual review. The Test Case Assistant creates and optimizes test cases from requirements, improving traceability and speeding validation while reducing errors in test development.

“We built Codebeamer AI to help simplify and streamline time-consuming tasks within the requirements development process,” said Joseph June, global head of AI Innovation, PTC. “By working alongside engineers in real time, Codebeamer AI brings greater clarity and consistency to everyday decisions, helping teams move faster with confidence and keep pace with the demands of modern, software-driven product development.”

PTC positions Codebeamer and Pure Variants as core elements of its intelligent product lifecycle strategy. The approach focuses on building an engineering data foundation and extending its use across enterprise functions. Integrated with Windchill AI and ServiceMax AI solutions, Codebeamer AI supports adoption of AI across product lifecycle processes.
