BOSTON, MA, May 7, 2026 – PTC’s Windchill PLM software will anchor the U.S. Army’s product data strategy for weapon systems, giving the service an official PLM and PDM environment for engineering, production, sustainment, configuration management, and cybersecurity. The DEVCOM-led move puts authoritative product data at the center of how the Army governs, reuses, and protects technical information across its enterprise.
Enterprise Product Data Management (ePDM) has been designated as the Department of the Army Approved Data Platform (DADP) and will serve as the authoritative system of record for Product Data Management (PDM) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) information under Army Data Platforms Guidance. ePDM supports governed enterprise workflows, configuration management, and end-to-end business processes tied to weapon system development, production, and sustainment. The Army said the system is intended to improve data quality, reduce redundant product data, and strengthen cybersecurity controls across enterprise.
PTC said Windchill is part of its Intelligent Product Lifecycle strategy, which centers on building a product data foundation in engineering and extending that information across enterprise operations. According to PTC, use of product data can support product quality management, compliance, complexity management, and AI-driven engineering workflows across manufacturing and defense programs.
