SHENZHEN, China, Dec 4, 2025 – Pudu Robotics introduced the PUDU D5 series, a new generation of autonomous quadruped robots built for outdoor environment. The series includes the legged PUDU D5 for uneven terrain and the wheeled PUDU D5-W for mixed-surface travel.

Addressing the Automation Gap in Challenging Environments

The D5 series was developed to address automation limits in outdoor and industrial environments. Uneven ground, slopes, stairs, multi-level layouts and weather exposure restrict the use of robots in inspection, patrol, logistics support and emergency response. The D5 series provides autonomous operation, mobility and accurate sensing to support tasks in conditions that standard indoor service robots cannot handle.

“The PUDU D5 series represents a significant leap forward in our vision for robotics. The D5 successfully brings advanced autonomy, rugged mobility, and intelligent interaction into the complex outdoor and industry-grade scenarios”, said Felix Zhang, founder and CEO at Pudu Robotics. “For Pudu, the D5 is not merely a new product, but a milestone in our mission to push robots deeper into more applications. We are building a collaborative ecosystem of ‘specialized, semi-humanoid, and humanoid robots’ that, by complementing each other’s capabilities, can comprehensively meet the diverse needs of our users.”

Key Features of the PUDU D5 Series

  • Automotive-Grade Computing for True Autonomy

Powered by a dual-processor system with NVIDIA Orin and RK3588 delivering up to 275 TOPS, the D5 performs real-time SLAM, 3D reconstruction, object recognition, obstacle avoidance and path planning for unsupervised operation.

  • High-Precision 360° Perception

Four fisheye cameras and dual 192-line LiDAR sensors generate dense 3D point clouds for precise localization and navigation. Remote visualization tools let operators monitor missions when needed.

  • Million-Square-Meter Navigation Capability

The D5 maps and navigates facilities up to one million square meters and supports autonomous workflows including departure, patrol, obstacle handling and return-to-charge. Its 14-kilometer single-charge range supports use in airports, metro systems and industrial campuses.

  • 30kg Payload with Stable Performance

High-strength aluminum construction and closed-loop torque control support 30-kilogram payloads and more than two hours of runtime at full load, enabling the D5 to carry inspection tools, materials and mission modules.

  • All-Terrain Mobility for Complex Environments

Wheel-leg locomotion reaches 5 m/s on flat surfaces and can climb 30° slopes and step over 25-centimeter stairs. IMU-based stabilization and bionic control algorithms support smooth operation on uneven terrain.

  • All-Weather Durability and Extreme Resilience

Designed for outdoor conditions, the D5 cold-starts at –10°C, operates from –20°C to 55°C and meets IP67 standards for rain, snow, dust and shifting climate conditions.

  • Intelligent Following and Predictive Avoidance

With fused vision and depth sensing with dynamic-obstacle-prediction algorithms, the D5 supports autonomous following and maintains safe spacing in narrow or crowded areas for inspection, logistics and escort tasks.

  • Natural Interaction with Gesture and Voice Control

The D5 recognizes more than 10 hand gestures (start, stop, recall, follow) and uses a 6-mic array with AI noise reduction for voice control in noisy environments.

Expanding Pudu Robotics’ Embodied-Intelligence Ecosystem

The PUDU D5 series pushes Pudu Robotics’ embodied-intelligence systems into outdoor and industrial work. It supports coordinated fleet deployment for inspection, transport infrastructure, outdoor security and research tasks, giving customers one platform that automates jobs conventional indoor robots cannot handle.
