
SESIMBRA, Portugal, Sep 18, 2026 – Quantum Systems expanded its unmanned systems portfolio into the maritime domain during a NATO exercise in Portugal, introducing the Seavex surface vehicle and Subvex underwater vehicle integrated into the MOSAIC UXS software architecture. Co-organized by the Portuguese Navy, FEUP, NATO CMRE, NATO JCGMUS, and EDA, the sea trials test autonomous capabilities above and below the waterline to unify operations across air, land, and sea.
Both platforms integrate into the MOSAIC UXS software framework. This connection links maritime assets with unmanned air and ground systems, allowing operators to deploy mixed fleets through a shared architecture that accepts additional sensors and third-party technologies.

“We started in the air, expanded to land, and now we are going to sea. But the real step forward is not adding another domain. It is connecting them,” said Florian Seibel, co-CEO and founder of Quantum Systems. “With Seavex and Subvex integrated into MOSAIC UXS, we are building one autonomous system across air, land and sea. That is where unmanned operations are heading, and that is what we are delivering.”
System Specifications
- Seavex (Unmanned Surface Vehicle): Built for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance missions with an endurance of up to two months. Payload equipment includes surveillance radar, counter-drone radar, and electro-optical sensors with onboard AI processing. The vessel launches and recovers unmanned aerial vehicles, docks and recharges underwater vehicles, and retrieves mission data from UUVs.
- Subvex (Unmanned Underwater Vehicle): Designed for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance missions at depths down to 6,000 meters. Equipped with sonar, acoustic sensors, and onboard edge processing, the system operates for up to four days in active movement. It supports distributed operations across multiple vehicles and can remain on the seabed in passive surveillance mode for weeks of underwater monitoring.
Operational Applications
The hardware and software architecture supports specific defense and industrial applications, including the protection of maritime infrastructure, maritime border security, anti-submarine surveillance, and blue-water surveillance. By fusing sensor data across waterlines, the system compiles multi-domain telemetry into a single operational environment.

“Maritime operations have a fundamental challenge: the areas are vast, while crews and assets are limited,” said Dirk Zademack, VP Quantum Maritime at Quantum Systems. “In the air and on land, we have built an ecosystem in which unmanned systems operate together rather than individually. We are now applying the same principle at sea with Seavex and Subvex: extending collaborative presence on the water and below the surface and compiling the information for the operator.”
