Rayon has raised €10 million in Series A funding to expand its browser-based CAD platform beyond two-dimensional drawing. Led by Partech, the round included investors Northzone, Foundamental, and Seedcamp. The company plans to add 3D design and AI agents in version 4, expected later this year, while extending its reach, tells AEC Magazine.
Founded in 2021 by Bastien Dolla and Stanislas Chaillou, Rayon serves interior designers, architects, and space planners. Its software lets teams draw, style, and present plans together in a browser. Colleagues can edit simultaneously, leave comments, and share links. Users can import DWG files, PDFs, and images, making it possible to work with existing material. Rayon says users have created more than four million drawings on the platform, and its staff now numbers 35.
Version 3 moved Rayon beyond drafting by letting users attach prices, product references, and calculated values to objects. Tables can organize that information into schedules. This connection between geometry and project data provides a foundation for the company’s AI features.
Rayon offers tools to generate or edit images, turn image content into vectors, and create CAD blocks from product photographs. An assistant helps users navigate the software, while a search agent locates blocks, styles, and templates. Version 4 would add 3D alongside generative tools and agents able to perform tasks within a project.
The company is emphasizing mobile access, presentation features, and more templates. Designers can view plans and take measurements on phones or tablets, although drawing and editing require a desktop or laptop browser.
For design practices, the central question is whether AI can make useful project changes without breaking dimensions or the links between drawings and schedules. The promised 3D and agent features are not yet available. Their value will depend on whether designers can inspect, refine, and trust the results in design work.
