KIELCE, Poland, Sep 9, 2025 – Raytheon has signed an agreement with WZE to provide energy storage modules for the lower tier air and missile defense sensor (LTAMDS) radar program. The deal makes WZE the program’s first international supplier and ties Poland to U.S. efforts to modernize European air defenses. LTAMDS is designed with sensing capabilities to counter threats, including ballistic and cruise missiles and drones.
“This agreement is a big step toward establishing LTAMDS’ global supply chain,” said Tom Laliberty, president of land & air defense systems at Raytheon. “Poland is the first international country to complement the combat-proven Patriot with LTAMDS, providing extended-range and full, 360-degree coverage to detect and defend against complex, highly coordinated, multi-threat attack scenarios.”
The subcontract builds upon the provisions for the Polish Government’s WISLA Phase 2 program. In August 2024, the U.S. Army awarded Raytheon a $2 billion contract to deliver radars for the United States and Poland. With the deal, Poland became the first international buyer to add LTAMDS to their air and missile defense system.
