IRVINE, CA, Oct 24, 2025 – Roland DG has introduced updates to Roland DG Connect Designer and VersaWorks 7 software, expanding creative and workflow capabilities for users. The latest version of Roland DG Connect Designer adds a visual communication module to support flexible design creation. VersaWorks 7 includes remote printing, improving accessibility and control management while  backup/workflow ensures  data protection and production stability.

“Roland DG has always aimed to simplify complex workflows and make professional printing accessible to everyone,” said Roland DG’s president of global sales and marketing, Ryugo Nimura. “With these new add-ons, we are responding directly to the way our customers work today. The new Visual Communication Module expands the power of Connect Designer by giving customers tools that were once reserved for professional design software, but with a simple, intuitive interface that anyone can use. It’s perfect for entry-level users who want to achieve more without investing in complex tools. The latest VersaWorks 7 updates allow users to print remotely, securely back up jobs, and manage larger volumes, helping them stay productive, competitive, and ready to meet the growing demand for on-demand printing.”

Roland DG Connect Designer Software – New Features

  • Visual Communication Mode: The update adds tools that simplify file preparation for different applications. One feature, image vectorization, automatically separates images by color based on tolerance values. This allows users to select and process specific color groups in bulk for image editing.
  • SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics): The update adds editing functions useful for producing T-shirts, stickers, and labels. When SVG files are loaded, lines and filled areas appear on separate layers, allowing users to adjust shapes, colors, and patterns for different applications. Because SVG data can be scaled without loss of quality, designs remain consistent across small and large print formats, like stickers or apparels.
  • Cutting Functionality: Cutting capabilities have been added, including perforated cutting features, which enable print and cut workflows for creating labels and stickers.
  • Background Removal: The feature lets users separate an image’s foreground from its background with a single click. For portraits, it prepares designs for printing without any external software.

First introduced in June 2025, Roland DG Connect Designer software was developed to simplify design and production for users of all levels. The cloud-based platform enables users to create graphics and send them to Roland DG printers, printer/cutters, and cutting devices. Roland DG Connect Designer integrates with VersaWorks 7 to generate print settings during design, reducing manual setup and streamlining the transition from design to production.

Roland DG VersaWorks 7 RIP Software – New Features

  • New VersaWorks Remote: The feature allows users to send jobs to VersaWorks from any location which has an Internet connection. It lets print operators manage production remotely.
  • VersaWorks Backup: The feature saves job settings and output data to the cloud, eliminating manual setup and allowing users to restore and reprint jobs when needed.
  • Extra Job Queue: The update expands the number of jobs that can be queued in VersaWorks 7 from 5 to 20. It allows users to register multiple job conditions by media type, client, or application, improving workflow organization in high-volume print environments.
  • Supports Increased Number of Printers: VersaWorks 7 supports up to eight registered Roland DG printers (previously supported a maximum of four).

VersaWorks 7 is Roland DG’s Raster Image Process (RIP) software for managing print workflows. New updates support up to eight printers, expand monitoring tools, and simplify specialty color plate creation.
