BERLIN, Germany, June 11, 2026 – Safran Electronics & Defense has announced an investment of nearly 50 million euros in Germany, aimed at strengthening its industrial and technological presence in the field of defense equipment, thereby reinforcing its historic footprint of over 40 years in the country.
This investment will involve moving operations from the current site in Murr to a new center of excellence in Ludwigsburg, Baden-Württemberg. The new site, which will be operational in early 2028, will support the growth of Safran Electronics & Defense’s activities in Germany.
The new facility will strengthen the production and maintenance capacities of the Murr facility, which is dedicated to fiber optic gyroscopes (FOG) and PNT (Position, Navigation, Timing) equipment used on both civil and military platforms. It will also incorporate new capabilities for the production and maintenance of portable optronic equipment for soldiers.
The investment will create 200 jobs, mainly for engineers, production technicians, quality managers, and business development and sales professionals. The investment supports its role as an industrial partner to the Bundeswehr, the German government, and Germany’s defense industry.
