SEALSQ, GlobalFoundries to Develop PQC IP and CryoCMOS

MoU covers secure chiplet components, HSM applications and cryoelectronic ASICs for quantum computing systems

SEALSQ and GlobalFoundries will co-develop Post-Quantum Cryptography security IP, secure chiplet architectures and CryoCMOS technology under an MoU covering secure semiconductor platforms and semiconductor-based quantum computing systems.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) pairs GlobalFoundries’ process technology and manufacturing capabilities with SEALSQ’s hardware-based certified security, Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) – ready silicon and quantum technology work.

The technical plan covers three areas:

  • PQC Security IP: SEALSQ and GlobalFoundries will work with MIPS on pre-certified PQC security IP hard macro blocks and Chiplet Hardware Security Module components.
  • Cryogenic CMOS: The companies will develop cryoelectronic ASICs designed to operate at ultra-low temperatures for quantum computing systems.
  • Trusted Supply Chains: The agreement supports European and U.S. semiconductor supply chain priorities tied to trusted, traceable and secure production.

The initiative builds on GlobalFoundries’ investments in Quantum Technology Solutions and SEALSQ’s investments in quantum computing. The companies said CMOS technology can support transistor scaling, integration density and high-volume production for future quantum systems.
