MUNICH, Germany, July 2, 2025 – Siemens has completed the acquisition of Dotmatics, a Boston-based provider of life sciences R&D software and a portfolio company of Insight Partners. Dotmatics will become part of Siemens’ Digital Industries Software business, expanding its Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) capabilities into the life sciences sector. This move strengthens Siemens’ position in delivering integrated R&D, data management, and workflow solutions for pharmaceutical, biotech, and life sciences organizations.
The acquisition expands Siemens’ AI-enabled Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) capabilities into the life sciences sector. Dotmatics’ Scientific Intelligence Platform, Luma, and its scientific applications support multi-modal drug development and integrate contextualized data. This creates a connected digital thread across the research-to-production value chain in life sciences.
“With Dotmatics, we’re building a new era of innovation in Life Sciences. From research through to production – we’re creating a unique, end-to-end digital thread: We combine Dotmatics’ scientific intelligence with our industrial AI technologies and digital twins,” said Roland Busch, president and CEO of Siemens AG. “This will allow us to help our customers accelerate breakthroughs, reduce development cycles, and bring life-saving pharmaceuticals faster and more affordably to the market.”
