
ZUG, Switzerland, Nov 5, 2025 – Siemens has expanded its cloud-based TIA selection tool with “Electrical Designer”, a feature that automates electrical planning. It is the first software in the IEC market (application of International Electrotechnical Commission standards) that includes electrical standards and design expertise, reducing research and reference checks. Electrical Designer simplifies main circuit design select components, verify short-circuits, size cables, and generate documentation in a single workflow.
Electrical Designer is a feature that automates electrical equipment planning for machines. The software handles component selection, short-circuit checks, cable sizing, and documentation in one workflow following IEC 60204-1 standards. By reducing manual calculations and rework, it helps engineers complete design tasks in less time. Cloud access allows teams to work on shared projects and access planning data from anywhere.

- End-to-end short-circuit analysis: Electrical Designer is the first IEC-compliant tool to verify short-circuit resistance from the individual load to the machine’s feed point.
- Complete machine design instead of individual calculations: When load data is entered, the software automatically selects switchgear, controls, and network components and generates parts lists and documentation.
- Up-to-date knowledge of standards: Electrical Designer checks the requirements defined in the relevant standards (currently IEC 60204-1).

Electrical Designer is available free for all TIA selection tool cloud users and will be presented at the Smart Production Solutions (SPS) trade fair from Nov 25 to 27, 2025 in Nuremberg, Germany. The Siemens booth will be in Hall 11.
