MUNICH, Germany, Aug 18, 2026 – Siemens is merging its four automation businesses into a single organization. Effective Oct 1, 2026, Customer Services, Factory Automation, Motion Control and Process Automation will operate as one unit called Automation, with Rainer Brehm as its president.
The consolidation is part of Siemens’ ONE Tech Company strategy. The managing board appointed Brehm to the role, who will report to Cedrik Neike, member of the managing board of Siemens AG and CEO of Digital Industries.
“The future of industry lies at the intersection of automation, software and AI, enabling faster innovation, greater scalability and more tailored customer solutions. That is exactly why we are creating the Automation unit,” said Cedrik Neike. “I am pleased that Rainer Brehm will lead this new organization. He understands the technologies, markets and customer needs and has been deeply committed to automation throughout his career. Together with our strong team, he will further develop and strengthen this business.”

Brehm currently works as COO of the automation business within Digital Industries and CTO, where he has led development of the automation portfolio, including software-defined automation and Industrial AI. Prior to this role, he served as CEO of the Factory Automation business unit.
