PLANO, TX, Aug 5, 2026 – Siemens announced that Simple Energy has expanded its use of Teamcenter X for product lifecycle management (PLM) and Designcenter X for vehicle engineering from the Xcelerator portfolio as the electric vehicle (EV) maker scales its lineup. The expansion includes the Teamcenter X product configurator for managing vehicle variants and enterprise level bills of materials (BOMs).
Simple Energy initially adopted Teamcenter X to centralize product data management (PDM) and coordinate work across engineering teams. As its EV programs matured, the company expanded to enterprise BOM management and variant configuration, including a “150 percent BOM approach.” Teamcenter X provides a configurable BOM that includes all components, options, and variants for a product family. Simple Energy uses this to configure specific 100% BOMs for customer orders.

Simple Energy has also replaced its legacy 3D CAD tools with Siemens’ Designcenter X, which integrates with Teamcenter X. The software supports advanced surface design, large assembly performance, and 3D electrical routing and harness design. Siemens’ value-based licensing model lets the company adjust software usage as the business grows.
