BANGKOK, Thailand, Sep 1, 2026 – Siemens has launched the Eigen Engineering Agent in Thailand, the first time the industrial AI has been available in the country. The Eigen Engineering Agent plans, executes and validates automation engineering tasks end-to-end.
How the Agent Works
The agent understands the project, writes the control software and configures the system, refining its work until it meets defined quality benchmarks. It works alongside TIA Portal and is part of the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio. Because it connects to TIA Portal, it reads the project’s data structures, blocks, parameters and component relationships, including on legacy or undocumented systems.
Capabilities Beyond Core Tasks
Thai customers have access to the full range of capabilities, including two that reach further upstream than core tasks such as PLC coding, HMI visualization and device configuration:
- ECAD integration: The agent reads electrical design files in XML and AML formats, detects inconsistencies, resolves or flags them, adds devices to the TIA Portal project, configures connections and generates PLC tags based on the hardware topology.
- Standards-compliant project generation: Engineers describe a machine in simple language, including its stations, devices and expected behavior. The agent generates a complete project that follows the Siemens Automation Framework, Siemens’ reference for structuring TIA Portal projects, ready to open and build on in TIA Portal.
Launched Amid a Shortage of Automation Engineers
Thai manufacturers face a persistent shortage of skilled automation engineers as product development cycles grow shorter.
Adoption and Reported Results
Since its global launch, the Eigen Engineering Agent has been adopted by more than 100 companies in 19 countries, including ANDRITZ Metals (Austria), CASMT (China) and Prism Systems (United States). Siemens reports:
- 2 to 5 times faster execution than manual workflows
- Up to 50% efficiency gains in engineering
- 80% improvement in overall solution quality
At one automotive line builder, new engineers who previously spent weeks learning a project’s structure now query it directly, reducing onboarding time from weeks to days. The Eigen Engineering Agent, including ECAD integration and standards-compliant project generation, is available to customers in Thailand as part of the standard subscription.
