CAIRO, Egypt, Aug 4, 2026 – Siemens inaugurated Electrification and Automation factory in Egypt that will produce switchgear, substation control and monitoring systems, protection systems, and embedded cybersecurity solutions for the country’s transmission and distribution networks and renewable energy sector. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Egyptian government officials, including Mahmoud Esmat, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy and Khaled Hashem, Minister of Industry, and Siemens AG leadership.
“Localizing the production of critical energy technologies is key to building resilient infrastructure and competitive industries,” said Stephan May, CEO of electrification and automation at Siemens. “With our new facility, we bring production closer to our customers, strengthening supply chains, accelerating delivery and supporting Egypt’s industrial growth and energy transition. This facility moves with speed to support Egypt’s ability to adopt advanced technology and achieve its ambitious goals, especially in integrating renewables and ensuring the highest cybersecurity standards for its power infrastructure.”
Egypt’s Renewable Energy Targets
Egypt has set a target of 45% green energy by 2028. The factory aligns with the country’s National Industry Strategy (2024–2030), which identifies electrical and engineering industries as a priority for localization. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Siemens and the Industrial Development Authority, signed in September 2024, established terms for local manufacturing of electrical products in Egypt.
The factory supports Egyptian engineering, procurement, and construction firms working on energy and infrastructure projects across Egypt, North Africa, and the broader African continent.

Siemens Power Academy
The facility includes the Siemens Power Academy, with training rooms adjacent to the factory floor. In its first year, the Academy will train professionals to design, operate, and maintain energy infrastructure. A customer experience center at the facility demonstrates digital twin and IoT-based solutions for energy management and grid optimization to stakeholders.
