TOKYO, Japan, June 26, 2025 – Rapidus has announced a collaboration with Siemens Digital Industries Software to support semiconductor design and manufacturing processes for the 2nm generation. The partnership will focus on developing a process design kit (PDK) using the Calibre platform, a tool for physical verification. This PDK will support design checks, manufacturing optimization, and reliability assessments from design through fabrication. The collaboration is part of Rapidus’ effort to strengthen its design and verification ecosystem.

This collaboration supports Rapidus’ manufacturing for design (MFD) approach, which improves yield and reduces turnaround time from the early stages of manufacturing. Rapidus and Siemens EDA will also develop a reference flow that integrates design, verification, and manufacturing processes from front end to back end. This reference flow will create a development environment for Rapidus’ unified manufacturing service.

“Our work with Rapidus signifies the deep integration of Siemens’ EDA technology into a new manufacturing base. Through the creation of a reference flow utilizing products such as Calibre and Solido, we will jointly build a future of semiconductor manufacturing that excels in reliability, speed, scalability and safety,” said Mike Ellow, CEO of Siemens EDA, Siemens Digital Industries Software.

Rapidus is building a process that integrates each step from chip design to manufacturing. By controlling design data and working with EDA companies, Rapidus limits how information moves and lowers the risk of data leaks. This approach makes the supply chain reliable to all possible stakeholders.

“Rapidus is dedicated to advancing the co-optimization of manufacturing and design and is committed to providing a design environment that dramatically speeds up the realization of customer needs for next-generation semiconductors. Our collaboration with Siemens will embody this mutual optimization, for our Design Manufacturing Co-Optimization concept. Rapidus, as a state-of the-art semiconductor foundry, will dramatically shorten the time to tape-out by achieving MFD for the 2nm gate-all-around process” said Dr. Atsuyoshi Koike, CEO of Rapidus.
