MUNICH, Germany, Mar 13, 2026 – Siemens will invest about €200 million to build an intelligent factory at Amberg, Germany. The new facility will support Siemens’ Smart Infrastructure Business and expand manufacturing capacity. Siemens plans to complete the factory by 2030 to meet the demand for high-tech electronic products. The company will also invest further to modernize the site and reduce emissions.
“This investment is a clear commitment to the location. It will also provide additional stimulus for Siemens’ growth in Germany. These plans even go beyond the investment commitments we made as part of the “Made for Germany” initiative,” said Roland Busch, president and CEO of Siemens AG. “By using industrial artificial intelligence, digital twins and state-of-the-art automation, we’re enhancing competitiveness and creating jobs that have a future. We’re also helping to strengthen Germany’s status as a country with a powerful industrial sector.”
Siemens plans to introduce autonomous and self-learning manufacturing systems at its new factory in Amberg, Germany, with artificial intelligence (AI) supporting selected operations. The design centers on flexible production that can adapt to changing market requirements. The company expects the new setup to improve operational efficiency and support sustainable manufacturing.

Around 2,400 employees from the Smart Infrastructure business currently work at the Amberg site. Siemens plans to involve them in the factory’s digital transformation while protecting jobs at the same time. The company is also providing training programs to prepare employees for new roles in the digital production environment.
Siemens is using digital twin technology to design the new factory in Amberg before construction begins. It can simulate production systems, machines and logistics in advance under different scenarios. Siemens will also use its Digital Twin Composer to connect multiple digital twin models.
AI will support production by processing real-time data for planning, execution, material transport, and system control. The factory design also includes automated logistics with driverless transport systems and humanoid robots. Siemens will also build a cleanroom for electronics manufacturing as part of the facility.
Siemens operates two factories in Amberg, employing about 4,500 people. The site serves as a production and development location. A Siemens Digital Industries plant in the town designs and manufactures switching, protection, and monitoring devices for industrial systems, along with industrial controllers used by customers worldwide.
The investment also aligns with Siemens’ support for Germany through the “Made for Germany” initiative. A total of 124 companies have joined the program so far. Together, they have pledged to invest a total of over €800 billion in Germany.
