SimScale Opens Simulation AI Agent to 900,000 Users

Simulation AI Agent handles CAD cleanup, simulation setup and validated reporting without human intervention

MUNICH, Germany, Aug 24, 2026 – A simulation AI agent that runs complete workflows autonomously is now available to SimScale‘s community of more than 900,000 engineers, designers and students.

The simulation AI agent handles CAD geometry clean-up, simulation set-up and validated output reports without human intervention. The release builds on agentic workflows the company has spent the past year proving with enterprise customers.

More than 160,000 engineers, hardware designers and students joined the platform in the last year, including over 100,000 in the first six months of 2026. The community spans more than 190 countries, with the largest share in the US. The built environment and AEC, industrial machinery and equipment, energy, manufacturing, electronics, automotive and aerospace are the most heavily represented sectors.

Platform data shows AI adoption in engineering and simulation workflows has doubled in less than a year. Non-linear mechanical simulation, which supports consumer goods, manufacturing, medical devices and advanced structural work, rose 99% in the past 12 months. Conjugate Heat Transfer (CHT) simulation, used in electronics cooling, heat exchangers and HVAC, rose 35%. Electromagnetics simulation, used for motors, actuators, sensors and power electronics, rose 42%.

David Heiny, CEO SimScale said: “For most of engineering history, simulation was something a handful of specialists did at the very end of a project, long after the decisions that mattered had already been made. What 900,000 users tell us is that this has flipped. AI-native engineers are testing ideas on day one.”

A survey of more than 350 leaders found that AI-assisted simulation has increased iteration speed for some teams from once a week to multiple times a day and expanded the number of design variants explored from as low as one to five to more than 200.

“When you can explore thousands of design decisions in seconds, time stops being the constraint to innovation, and that changes what an individual engineer can do – whether that’s an experienced engineer in a big organization, an engineer early-on in their career, or a student building skills,” David says. “We must attract engineers into hardware, which is challenging but rewarding. But most engineers did not choose the profession to draw CAD lines, wrestle with Outlook, or wait two weeks for simulations. They chose it because they wanted to solve the world’s biggest challenges and – to keep and nurture talent and drive innovation as rapidly as we need to – we must enable them to do that.  This is why the integration of AI into simulation tools is so critical within engineering organizations. AI is not going to replace hardware engineering jobs; it’s a task tool that will free up engineers to do the work they trained for – and dreamt about – in the first place.”
