PHOENIX, AZ, Aug 14, 2025 – Spirit Electronics has announced the addition of Vicor Corporation to its portfolio of products and services for the space industry. As a channel partner, Spirit will offer Vicor Factorized Power Architecture (FPA) line of radiation-tolerant DC-DC converters to address power delivery challenges in satellites and other space applications. The agreement expands Spirit’s role in supplying components for missions ranging from commercial communications to defense operations, including demands for AI-enabled on-orbit processing in U.S. and allied space programs.

Spirit is providing evaluation boards for Vicor radiation-tolerant power modules that support the power delivery network (PDN) for LEO and MEO satellites. These modules deliver high-efficiency, high-density, low-noise voltage conversion for network communication ASICs, FPGAs and processors. Conventional intermediate bus architectures, which pair an isolated DC-DC conversion stage with a multi-phase buck array, cannot meet the needed power density and low-noise performance. Vicor’s patented FPA solution, which has achieved flight heritage, uses three modules to reduce I2R distribution losses, improve efficiency and enhance transient response.

“Spirit is continuously seeking innovative products that give our customers a competitive edge in the space race,” comments Spirit CEO Marti McCurdy. “Vicor is delivering a game-changing power solution with high reliability, a compact form factor and proven space heritage – a huge win for advanced satellite deployments.”

Vicor’s radiation-tolerant modular power delivery systems protect against radiation exposure while maintaining high power density. The modular design supports flexible, scalable configurations and adapts to changing requirements. These features make the technology suitable for applications such as on-board satellite processing, earth observation, disaster management, space debris retrieval and defense operations.

Spirit provides engineering and value-added services that cover the integrated circuit supply chain, including foundry processes, chip packaging, and testing for environmental factors and radiation. The company also supports board and box build assembly. This approach addresses the needs of the space industry as requirements continue to change.
