GENEVA, Switzerland, Oct 23, 2026 – STMicroelectronics (ST) has launched ST MatterConnect, a service that preloads authentication credentials into secure chips for Matter-compatible smart-home devices. The service supports ST25DA-C NFC and STSAFE-A120 secure elements.
ST generates and loads credentials using its security infrastructure and certified secure factories. Provisioned data includes the Matter Device Attestation Certificate (DAC), cryptographic keys, product and version information, and customer personalization data.
“With ST MatterConnect, we deliver Matter-ready devices with the necessary certificates and keys preloaded, allowing customers to reduce operational costs and complexity, as well as accelerate time to market for new products,” said Sylvain Fidelis, multi-market business line manager, STMicroelectronics. “Equipment makers can leverage ST’s status as an approved Product Attestation Authority (PAA) and Product Attestation Intermediate (PAI) to ensure trust and compliance without the expense of building secure provisioning infrastructure internally.”
ST’s ST25DA-C and STSAFE-A120 chips store sensitive data, including security keys, and execute authentication commands in secure hardware.
The ST25DA-C tag is designed to support the Matter device NFC commissioning flow. The flow helps users connect devices from different ecosystems without multiple proprietary hubs. Applications include lightbulbs, smart plugs, smoke alarms, security cameras and presence sensors.
The STSAFE-A120 connects to a device’s host through an I²C interface. It provides Matter device authentication and security services for IoT devices, including secure connection and integrity verification. The secure element runs on a CC EAL5+ certified platform.
