Tokamak Energy has signed an agreement with Gauss Fusion to advance high-temperature superconducting (HTS) magnet technology and speed up the development of commercial fusion technology. The collaboration will focus on magnet design, system integration, and testing to support future commercial-scale fusion applications.
The partnership represents cross-European cooperation to share resources and expertise. The aim is to speed up the development and rollout of fusion technology, so it can move from laboratory research into power generation.
Speaking on the announcement signed at the company’s partner summit in Oxford, Warrick Matthews, Tokamak Energy CEO, said “This partnership combines Tokamak Energy’s innovative magnet technologies with Gauss Fusion’s extensive expertise in the industrialization of fusion energy. Together, we are accelerating the path toward practical fusion energy solutions.”
Milena Roveda, Gauss Fusion CEO, said: “Fusion is too big of a challenge for any single company or country to deliver alone. This is exactly the kind of pan-European alliance we need to pool our industrial know-how and strengthen Europe’s strategic autonomy in clean energy. By working together on critical magnet technology, we are turning public commitment into tangible action and accelerating the path to the first generation of European fusion power plants.”
