Vention is bringing agentic AI into industrial automation with MachineAgent, a system designed to assist manufacturers throughout the design, programming, operation, and troubleshooting of automated equipment. Instead of requiring separate tools and specialists for each stage, MachineAgent provides an AI layer across Vention’s automation platform.
Users interact with MachineAgent through natural-language prompts. The system can generate automation cell layouts, produce production-ready code, analyze machine performance, and provide troubleshooting guidance. It extends workflows already available through Vention’s MachineBuilder, MachineLogic, and MachineAnalytics products.
MachineAgent consists of skills and open interfaces, including the Vention CLI and Vention MCP server. Its support for Model Context Protocol allows engineers to work with compatible AI coding agents, including Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code, and OpenAI Codex.
During design, users can describe an automation cell, provide floor-plan information, and specify equipment. MachineAgent then creates an initial layout in MachineBuilder. Vention stresses that generated designs still require automated checks and qualified engineering review for safety-related elements.
For programming, MachineLogic Copilot uses information about machine configurations and robot assets to generate, modify, or debug applications from prompts. Engineers working on more complex applications can use Vention’s CLI and Developer Toolkit with their preferred development environment and coding agent.
MachineAgent also connects AI with deployed equipment. Teams can ask questions about production performance instead of manually searching dashboards. For troubleshooting, the system can collect logs, identify possible cable or sensor problems, diagnose faults, and recommend corrective actions using data reported to MachineAnalytics.
Vention positions MachineAgent as a way to address engineering labor constraints while reducing repetitive work. The company does not propose removing engineers from automation projects. Instead, it aims to make specialized automation tasks more accessible while allowing engineers to concentrate on higher-value design, validation, and production decisions.
