HSINCHU, Taiwan, Apr 14, 2025 – AUO focuses on expanding its business scope by leveraging its group synergy to provide green solutions linking energy management, renewable energy, and resource recycling. The year 2025 marks its fifth participation in the “Green Technology and New Energy Section” at 2025 Touch Taiwan. Under the theme “Beyond ESG, Partnering for Green Solutions,” AUO, along with its business groups and subsidiaries, will present a “Carbon Neutral Building Solutions” exhibition, showcasing the strength of their green technologies and providing key solutions to support enterprises to achieve low-carbon transformation. Furthermore, aligning with the shift towards a new plastics economy, a plastic reduction initiatives exhibition will display the collaborative achievements of AUO and its ecosystem partners in reducing plastic usage. This embodies AUO’s vision of connecting internal and external value chains to create green business opportunities through tangible green behavior and performance.

AUO Integrates Green Technologies to Deliver a Comprehensive Low-Carbon Building Solution

In response to the global net-zero trend, AUO is integrating the diverse services of its subsidiaries- AUO Envirotech, AUO Digitech– and its energy business to showcase a comprehensive carbon-neutral building solution. This offering combines energy conservation, energy generation, energy management, and electricity sales services into an integrated approach. The showcase includes net-zero intelligent building solution, ESCO solution, chiller system, AI power saving solution, and renewable energy services.

In terms of energy conservation, and in alignment to the government’s deep energy-saving initiatives, AUO Envirotech has been recognized as an energy service company (ESCO) supplier. By connecting carbon management and energy management systems, AUO offers customers diverse energy-saving solutions, accumulating a total of 104 million kWh of electricity savings since 2019.

By integrating energy generation, energy management, and electricity sales services, AUO’s subsidiary, AUO Power, has launched renewable energy services to address the complexities of renewable energy. Furthermore, the service uses smart management to connect renewable energy plants with customers. It handles every step, from power purchase agreements and payments to tracking generation data, matching supply with demand, and managing certificates. This helps keep renewable energy supply steady and makes operations efficient.

As the smart city sector continues to expand, the demand for smart buildings is also increasing. AUO has integrated its group-wide resources and practical experience to transform its headquarters building, the AUO Global Research Center (GRC), into Taiwan’s first carbon-neutral building to receive ISO 14068-1:2023 certification, providing the industry with a low-carbon, near-zero building solution.

Industry, Academia, and Research Institutions Unite to Create a Plastic Reduction Ecosystem and Unlock New Value through Resource Recycling

AUO is pursuing a circular economy through its plastic reduction initiatives exhibition, which highlights actions and achievements in two key areas: production and manufacturing, and employee behaviors. These efforts align with global concerns regarding plastic reduction and biodiversity. In terms of production and manufacturing, AUO adopts “source-to-end” management approach involving procurement, supply chain, manufacturing, and waste disposal. The exhibition will feature items made from recycled materials such as tray pallets, stretch film, and filter cartridges, alongside the successful implementation of aluminum-plastic separation. In 2024 alone, the efforts have resulted in a reduction of over 400 metric tons of plastic at the source.

AUO promotes the concept of a “plastic reduction living circle.” in everyday life. Through soft engagement activities, the company – cultivates environmental awareness among employees. Regarding employee behaviors, AUO promotes the concept of a “plastic reduction living circle” in everyday life. The company conducts awareness programs to promote environmental responsibility among employees. Office plastic waste is repurposed into items such as umbrellas, garbage bags, and tote bags, which are distributed internally and externally to support its plastic reduction efforts.

Guided by a spirit of “Gung-Ho: collaborate for mutual benefit”, AUO’s plastic reduction initiatives have formed over 37 partners from industry, academia, and research institutions, creating an ecosystem to amplify the impact of these actions. In the area of waste plastic recycling technology, AUO has teamed up with the Plastics Industry Development Center on several projects. Both organizations will sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) at the exhibition to formalize their cooperation on reducing plastic waste and supporting circular practices. The agreement outlines collaboration in areas such as technology research, regulatory updates, education and the sharing of international data and industry insights to support sustainable green transformation.

To apply low-carbon and circular practices, this year’s exhibition booth will use recyclable materials, repurpose existing displays, and reduce printed content by adopting digital alternatives. AUO plans to continue promoting sustainability through technology by working with partners across its value chain to develop practical, long-term solutions. Drawing on its operational experience, the company aims to support the industry’s shift toward sustainable practices.
