Kraton Launches CirKular+ Paving Circularity Series

by | Apr 22, 2025

A new road solution makes it easier to reuse old asphalt while cutting down on emissions. It strikes a balance between sustainability and the performance standards contractors need.

THE WOODLANDS, TX, Apr 22, 2025 – Kraton Corp. has marked five years of its CirKular+ product line with the introduction of the “CirKular+ Paving Circularity Series.” Developed in response to the paving industry’s push for greater use of reclaimed asphalt and reduce Greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, the new series supports the integration of up to 50% reclaimed asphalt content into surface layer mixes. The solution maintains performance and enhances processing efficiency.

Kraton was the first to develop commercially viable styrenic block copolymers. Since then, it has supplied materials for polymer-modified asphalt in paving, helping improve durability and performance. As industry requirements and regulations change, the company continues to develop products aimed at supporting sustainable and innovative solutions.

“Launching the Paving Circularity Series is a testament to our commitment to sustainability and innovation,” said Pedro Lopes, Kraton global VP of strategic marketing, product management, and Supply Chain. “In Europe, the paving industry is actively working to increase circularity and reduce GHG emissions in alignment with the European Green Deal and the EU’s  2050 climate neutrality goals. The new series helps unlock value-added circularity by enabling polymer-modified bitumen (PMB) producers and contractors to increase the reuse of reclaimed asphalt, thereby reintegrating it back into the road surface layer.”

Kraton’s Paving Circularity Series C5000 was made for use in roadwork. It helps asphalt last longer and keeps its strength against wear and rutting. C5000 works with warm mix asphalt methods and meets asphalt surface material specifications. Growing the CirKular+ product range shows Kraton’s plan to develop new products that support sustainability.
