REYKJAVÍK, Iceland, June 23, 2025 – atNorth, in collaboration with Swedish project developer WA3RM, is developing a 650,000 square meter site north of Varde in western Denmark. The site will combine a 250,000 sqm data center – projected to be Denmark’s largest – with 400,000 sqm of greenhouse infrastructure.
The project is currently in the planning phase, with final permits expected by autumn 2025 and construction scheduled to begin in 2026.
The initiative is an example of sector coupling, where the substantial heat generated by the data center’s computing infrastructure will be repurposed to heat the greenhouses, which will reach up to 25 meters in height.
The data center is expected to create around 100 jobs, while the greenhouse operations will employ approximately 400 people. WA3RM’s greenhouse development is backed by SEK 8 billion in financing from the Swedish Vinga Group. The investment of atNorth for this project is of SEK 25 billion, supported by asset managers.
