NOVATO, CA, June 12, 2025 – IMSI Design has launched DesignCAD 2025, an update focused to improve processing speed, expand compatibility, and refine precision tools. The version includes over 50 updates across drafting, modeling, and design workflows.

Performance, Stability and Usability

DesignCAD 2025 features 7x faster redraw speeds, reducing delays when zooming, panning, or making complex edits. The Draw Polyline tool operates with improved responsiveness, while stability updates resolve crashes, freezing issues, and optimize PDF imports, layer management, and block editing.

The new DesignCAD Updater checks for updates upon startup, ensuring users have the newest improvements. A manual Check for Updates button allows for flexible software management.

Expanded Compatibility and File Interoperability

  • ODA Version 25.7 Support: Compatibility with AutoCAD files (R12–2025), refined APIs, and improved industry-standard file handling.
  • SketchUp 2024 Integration: Users can import, edit, and export SketchUp 2024 files with improved geometry handling, texture mapping, and scaling options.

Innovative Tools for Precision Design

  • Points on Path Tool: Enables placement of points along curves, splines, arcs, polygons, and circles, with options for uniform spacing or custom distribution.
  • Basic Shapes: Newly introduced parametric basic shape geometries expand DesignCAD’s drawing and modeling capabilities, providing versatility in drafting and structured design work.

“DesignCAD 2025 strengthens precision and usability, allowing designers to work with greater efficiency,” says Tim Olson, vice president of IMSI Design. “With improved processing speeds and expanded file compatibility, this release supports professionals tackling complex projects.”

“We continuously refine our tools to meet users’ needs,” says Rita Buschmann, vice president of product management, CAD and Home Design. “This update introduces essential improvements that enhance responsiveness and flexibility across design workflows.”
