FOUNTAIN INN, SC, June 16, 2025 – KYOCERA AVX offers internal 2.4GHz antennas designed for system-in-package (SiP) applications. These multiprotocol antennas support wireless communication requirements in compact electronic systems.

System-in-package (SiP) modules integrate multiple integrated circuits (ICs) with distinct functions into a single chip carrier. These modules often combine silicon and passive components to perform a range of electronic system tasks, including processing and memory. SiPs are usually used in sectors facing challenges related to miniaturization, performance, and cost, due to their small size, versatility, and simplified assembly processes. This enables faster design iterations and shorter time-to-market. The increasing demand from industries such as 5G mobile, wearable devices, high-performance computing, AI, IoT, and autonomous vehicles is driving growth in the SiP market. The market was valued at $15.36 billion in 2023 and is projected to reach $35.20 billion by 2031.

KYOCERA AVX offers small, lightweight, on-board, multiprotocol 2.4GHz antennas designed for easy integration and optimized for cost-sensitive, space-constrained applications using SiP modules. These solutions are all RoHS-compliant and packaged on tape and reel for automated pick and place assembly and include the:

  • 1001312 Wi-Fi/Bluetooth/Zigbee/Matter Ceramic Antenna. This polarized ceramic antenna exhibits high efficiency (62%), 1.88dBi peak gain, and superior RF field containment in a miniature 2.0 x 1.2 x 0.55mm (L x W x H) SMT package that weighs just 0.003g. It supports the 2,400–2,485MHz band in addition to a configuration for 6.0–8.5GHz for ultra-wideband (UWB) applications and is available in an A-Series automotive version (A1001312) as well.

  • 9005868 2.4GHz Corner Chip Antenna. This polarized chip antenna supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), Zigbee, WLAN, ISM, and Matter protocols and is designed for corner placement, This makes it suitable for applications with small PCBs. The 9005868 antenna has an omnidirectional radiation pattern, with an efficiency of 72%, a 4.0dBi peak gain, and effective RF field containment in a compact, low-profile SMT package, measuring 1.0 x 0.58 x 0.35mm (L x W x H) and weighing just 0.0009g. It is rated for operating temperatures ranging from -55°C to +125°C, exhibits reliability and repeatability over temperature compared to traditional ceramic chip antennas and is also available in an A-Series automotive version (A9005868).

  • 9001978 Ultra-Small 2.4GHz Chip Antenna. This polarized chip antenna is designed for small, thin form factors. It measures 1.00 x 0.55 x 0.40 (L x W x H) and weighs less than 0.001g. It supports 2,400–2,485MHz band protocols like Bluetooth, Zigbee, and Matter, as well as 6.0–8.5GHz for UWB and dual-band 2.4/5.0GHz Wi-Fi applications. Versions meeting AEC-200 standards are available for automotive Bluetooth, UWB, and dual-band Wi-Fi The antenna offers 65% efficiency and 3.0dBi peak gain within the 2,400–2,485MHz range, operates between -55°C and +125°C, and maintains consistent performance across temperature variations compared to traditional ceramic chip antennas.

All three antennas are designed for cost-sensitive and space-limited applications that use SiP modules. Use cases include smart tags, wearables, consumer electronics, smart home sensors, and healthcare devices. The A-Series variants are suited for wireless battery management systems and tire pressure monitoring systems.

Each of these antennas is also available with downloadable resources designed to ease the implementation process for engineers, including PCB layouts in Drawing Interchange Format (DXF) files and Ansys HFSS and CST encrypted simulation files.

KYOCERA AVX has more than 395 antenna patents and 1,000 active and passive antenna products, has sold more than 4 billion antennas, and has collaborated on thousands of designs with customers like STMicroelectronics (ST).

As an ST Authorized Partner, KYOCERA AVX collaborates with the ST engineering team on antenna validation and implementation projects to help ST customers overcome design challenges, simplify the design of end-to-end solutions, and accelerate development cycles. The companies’ collaborations resulted in ST using KYOCERA AVX’s internal, on-board, Bluetooth and BLE antennas in its new STM32WBA5M SiP microcontroller (MCU) module, which was released to market in early May 2025.

“The KYOCERA AVX antenna engineering team was a key collaborator during the development of our new STM32WBA Series SiP MCU module,” said Sylvain Raynaud, product marketing and business development manager, MDRF Group – GPAM Division, STMicroelectronics. “They supported the identification and implementation of a standard multiprotocol (Bluetooth, Zigbee, Thread, and Matter) 2.4GHz antenna that satisfies our miniaturization, performance, emissions, compliance, and cost optimization requirements. As a result, our new ultra-low-power, small-form-factor, 2.4GHz wireless module provides customers with a turnkey solution for achieving best-in-class RF performance with no RF expertise.”

“We’re proud to be a part of the ST Partner Program and grateful for the opportunities it provides to problem-solve and innovate with the ST engineering team in service of further enhancing their device connectivity performance and helping their customers shorten design cycles and expedite time-to-market,” said Carmen Redondo, director of global marketing – Antennas at KYOCERA AVX.
