Norma Vargas to Lead Hexagon’s Mining Division in Chile, Argentina

SANTIAGO, Chile, Apr 22, 2025 – Hexagon has appointed Norma Vargas as the general manager of its Mining division in Chile and Argentina. With a proven record in innovation and automation, Norma will lead Hexagon’s growth in the mining sector.

A leader with 30 years of experience in technology, including two decades in mining operations, Norma previously served as director of operations technology (OT) at Codelco. Throughout her career, she has led digital transformation, automation, and propagated the use of innovative mining technologies.

Norma brings expertise in operational technology systems, mining automation, integrated operations centers, mine dispatch and safety systems, and digital transformation strategies. Her leadership in innovation projects spans both private-sector mining operations and government initiatives, establishing her as an industry icon.

An electronic civil engineer, Norma holds two master’s degrees: one in maintenance and asset management from the Technical University Federico Santa María (UTFSM), and the other in financial strategy from Adolfo Ibañez University. She also earned a diploma in strategic leadership from the same university. She has shared her knowledge as a part-time professor at UTFSM, mentoring the next generation of engineers.

In her new role, Norma will be based in Hexagon’s Santiago office. She will lead Hexagon’s growth in the mining sectors of Chile and Argentina.
