BOSTON, MA, June 5, 2025 – PTC has released Creo 12, the latest update to its CAD software, with a focus on improving design efficiency across modeling, simulation, and manufacturing workflows. The new version includes a set of enhancements aimed at streamlining tasks and supporting collaboration among engineering teams.
Key features include tools to help accelerate support composite material design, expanded use of multi-body parts to drive assemblies, and incremental improvements to sheet metal modeling. Creo 12 also adds feature presets and usability adjustments to reduce repetition and streamline workflows.
There is enhanced AI-driven generative design as a result of thermal physics being added to existing capabilities, whilst automatic contact creation in Ansys real-time simulation allows teams to iterate and optimize designs faster.

Creo 12 also brings Creo’s strength in assembly design to cable harnesses, simplifying collaboration and reducing the complexity of harness assemblies – ideal when designing for electrification.
“When we talk to engineering leaders at manufacturers across the UK, I always ask the same question: ‘What matters most right now – speed, quality, or innovation?’,” explained Brian Thompson, PTC’s general manager of Creo.
“It’s not an easy one. Every project has different pressures, and success is usually about finding the right balance. But when we press for a single priority, the answer is almost always the same: time to market.”
“In other words, efficiency. Getting great products out the door faster is the name of the game in this post-pandemic world. That’s why our latest Creo release, Creo 12, is focused on helping engineers work smarter and faster, with hundreds of improvements built directly around design efficiency.”
Creo 12 introduces new links between Creo models and engineering material data in PTC’s Windchill product lifecycle management (PLM) solution. This feature helps evaluate material options by providing insights into their environmental impact, including carbon footprint, supporting informed decisions in line with sustainability goals.

The latest version of Creo+, a software-as-a-service (SaaS) version of Creo that offers cloud-enabled collaboration and entitlement tools, is also available.
Brian concluded: “We will be demonstrating the power of Creo 12 at the International Paris Air Show (16th to 22nd June) on Chalet #395, where visitors will discover how Hill Helicopters, the British manufacturer of sleek, light helicopters for private pilots, relies on its generative design and simulation solutions.”
“A perfect example of how cutting-edge technology is being brought to life and to market quicker than ever before.”
