TOKYO, Japan, March 27, 2025 – Renesas Electronics Corp. has introduced the RAA278830 Video Diagnostics Bridge IC, an integrated dual low-voltage differential signal (LVDS) LCD video processor. The new IC includes key features required to design ISO 26262-compliant ASIL B automotive display systems. These include heads-up displays (HUDs), digital instrument clusters, camera monitor systems (CMS), and electronic mirrors.
As cars rely on display systems for safety, showing clear and uncorrupted images is essential. Issues like missing frames, frozen images, or incorrect warning icons can pose risks to drivers. The RAA278830 addresses these problems with built-in safety features to prevent image issues. It monitors signal integrity and video content to catch problems such as frozen frames, incorrect colors, or broken or corrupt video images. It can also detect flashing, flickering, or distorted visuals that may block a driver’s view, especially in HUD systems.
