IRVINE, CA, Apr 21, 2025 – Roland DG Corp. has announced the global release of 8 new printable substrates, 13 paint colors, and 4 interior decoration kits for the DIMENSE digital printing solution. This system allows the production of dimensional surface decoration using textured printing.
DIMENSE is a digital printing solution consisting of an inkjet printer, texture-forming media, structural ink, and CMYK water-based ink to create raised, textured prints. It works by applying structural ink to control the texture, followed by CMYK ink for color. When the media passes through the printer’s onboard heater, uncoated areas foam, producing a tactile, dimensional surface. The result is a print with visual detail and physical depth, suitable for applications like wallcoverings and interior design.
Ryugo Nimura, president of global sales and marketing at Roland DG notes, “Our innovative DIMENSE solution enables on-demand surface imaging with unique textures that add high value to interiors such as hotels, high-end retail environments, restaurants, museums, and corporate offices.”
Eight types of media are available, including new substrates that allow embossing up to 0.078 inches (2 mm) high for sharper and deeper dimensional effects. These media come in either non-woven or textile-based canvas versions. Type II-compliant media for commercial wallpaper use is available in the U.S. market, offering durability, safety, and reliable performance. Additionally, media options with twice the scratch resistance of standard materials have been added for use in high-traffic environments.
DIMENSE lets users create artistic effects by manually painting onto the embossed print. Thirteen compatible paints are available, including metallic shades like gold, silver, and copper, as well as matte, sand, and velvet finishes. This gives users options to customize their designs.
In addition, four application kits are available, containing the tools needed for post-processing, such as painting and applying finished wallpaper. The kits include manuals and instructional videos to guide users through the process and support a smooth ideation.
“In recent years, creating unique experiences and styles has become critical for designers and businesses,” said Nimura. “In hospitality and commercial spaces, creating a distinct and unforgettable environment that impresses visitors is increasingly important. In offices and residential spaces, there is a growing interest in creating environments that embody a company’s identity and personality. DIMENSE offers a one-of-a-kind solution to meet these needs, and these new accessories will further expand the capabilities of users. We look forward to continuing to expand our line of DIMENSE-related products to provide new creative possibilities and excitement to people around the world.”
