Sumitomo Riko Uses Ansys SimAI to Speed Automotive Design

PITTSBURGH, PA, Oct 13, 2025 – Sumitomo Riko is adopting Ansys AI technology to accelerate design and manufacturing for automotive components. Using Ansys SimAI, the company analyzes simulation data to build AI models that predict product performance. The technology reduces computation time in areas such as anti-vibration design and exploration, battery cooling, magnetic field analysis, and mixing heat transfer analysis, bringing innovation in product development.

To speed up product development, Sumitomo Riko is using SimAI and simulation data to train AI models of rubber products, such as vibration isolators and hoses. The AI models can predict performance in under five minutes, saving more than an hour per design while maintaining the accuracy of high-fidelity simulations.

Sumitomo Riko is also working with Ansys to implement workflow automation across product design, manufacturing, and retirement processes.

For example, initial testing showed that SimAI can accelerate simulation cycles over 10x when predicting the mechanical performance of rubber bushes, which reduce shock and vibration in suspension systems. This improvement enables faster design iterations and efficient workflows.
