Supermicro, DataVolt to Build AI Campuses in Saudi Arabia

by | May 19, 2025

A $20 billion project will build AI campuses in Saudi Arabia using renewable energy and liquid cooling technology. The goal is to support powerful computing systems while reducing energy use and cost.

SAN JOSE, CA, May 19, 2025 – Super Micro Computer, Inc. has announced that it has entered into a partnership under a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with DataVolt to build hyperscale AI campuses in Saudi Arabia.

“Supermicro is thrilled to work together in this important effort to deliver significantly enhanced computing power for the next generation of AI infrastructure,” said Charles Liang, president and CEO of Supermicro. “We are excited to collaborate with DataVolt to bring our advanced AI systems featuring the latest direct liquid cooling technology (DLC-2) powered by local renewable, sustainable, and net-zero green technology.”

This collaboration will speed up the delivery of Supermicro’s GPU platforms, storage, and rack PnP systems for DataVolt’s gigawatt-class renewable and net-zero AI campuses. This gives customers broader reach and improved sustainability. Supermicro’s liquid cooling solutions cut power costs by up to 40%, reduce deployment time, and improve data center efficiency with lower power usage effectiveness (PUE). As a solution provider for enterprise and cloud data centers, Supermicro will supply a tested and optimized IT package. This includes AI and compute servers, networking, storage, racks, and liquid cooling technology. Supermicro’s liquid cooling systems help data center solutions deploy the recent AI infrastructure while lowering total cost of ownership (TCO) by up to 20%.

The collaboration depends on negotiating and signing one or more definitive agreements between the parties. The estimated minimum market value of the products involved in the transaction is $20 billion. This highlights the partnership between the two companies to develop large-scale AI infrastructure.
