WESTMINSTER, CO, Mar 13, 2025 – Trimble has announced the 2025 version of its Tekla PowerFab steel fabrication management system. Tekla PowerFab introduces improved workflow integration, updated production scheduling, and advanced bill of materials (ABM) workflow enhancements to support efficient steel detailing and fabrication processes.
Integration improvements between Tekla PowerFab 2025 and Tekla Structures 2025, Trimble’s structural BIM software, eliminate the need for manual data transfer of file exports and imports. This reduces the probability of errors and enhances the shared visibility of projects. In the new version, the Tekla Structures Connector allows fabricators to share their profile catalog with detailers, ensuring that compatible materials and finishes are used in detailing. Automated submittals with real-time validation help minimize errors at every stage of a project. This expands partnership and supports steel detailing and fabrication management.
Interactive Production Planning
The new web-based interactive scheduling tool in Tekla PowerFab 2025 offers a week-based capacity planning tool by hours or weight, accommodating various planning levels. The Production Planner supports planning across multiple workshops and facilities with interfaces for both basic and detailed planning. It allows for future job scheduling, which is an essential feature for sales and project management teams, and adjusts capacity based on shifts and subcontractor utilization.
ABM Improvements
In the latest version of Tekla PowerFab, ABM improvements cater to the increased frequency of changes facing steel fabricators at the ABM stage. With the Tekla Structures Connector, Tekla PowerFab 2025 improves control and visibility over ABM numbering and change management, simplifying workflows for detailers and fabricators.
“Trimble builds a connected ecosystem of applications and resources that support open collaboration and communication across design workflows and beyond,” says Ryan Vander Plaats, portfolio manager, fabrication at Trimble. “With the new version of Tekla PowerFab, Trimble is actively streamlining detailer-to-fabricator collaboration and communication, reducing complexity even further and boosting customers’ ability to deliver with confidence.”
Simplified Work Package Management
Tekla PowerFab 2025 enhances the work package management system introduced in the 2024i release, which streamlined production workflows through centralized work packages containing all project data. The updated version implements priority-driven scheduling for digital work packages and integrates them with the Tekla PowerFab Go mobile interface. This allows fabrication teams to remotely access and transition between prioritized tasks from mobile devices. The updates improve workflow integration between planning and fabrication, ensuring better coordination and real-time operation across platforms.
Better Insight for More Efficient Purchasing
Turning data into insights, in case with Tekla PowerFab the latest addition offers an up-to-date visualization of the purchasing data within Tekla PowerFab. This provides insight into historical trends and current purchasing statuses, benefiting procurement, project management and the financial department.
AI-Powered Trimble Assistant for Tekla
