WESTMINSTER, CO, Mar 13, 2025 – Trimble has introduced the 2025 version of Tekla Structures, its flagship structural BIM software. The new version introduces AI-enabled tools to enhance productivity and effective creation of fabrication drawings. New and enhanced features help to create, combine, manage and share information-rich 3D models for real-time, model-based collaboration throughout construction project stages.
Tekla Structures 2025 introduces improved drawing automation tools designed to streamline fabrication drawing creation. The enhancements aim to improve user experience, reduce revisions, and support compliance with company and regulatory standards.
AI Cloud Fabrication Drawing Service
Introduced as a preview* in Tekla Structures 2025, the AI Cloud Fabrication Drawing service presents users the ability to utilize AI in creating fabrication drawings. Without being disruptive to customers’ usual workflows, the preview feature provides an optional, alternative approach that can reduce the need for manual adjustments.
AI-powered Trimble Assistant for Tekla
A new AI-powered Trimble Assistant for Tekla is available, both within the product as an extension and as a web app in Tekla User Assistance, a centralized product support system for customers. It provides answers to users’ questions on Tekla products — Tekla Structures, Tekla Structural Designer, Tekla Tedds or Tekla PowerFab – by using the Tekla User Assistance knowledge base.
Seamless Model-based Collaboration with Project Stakeholders
Using the Tekla PowerFab Connector functionality in Tekla Structures, the detailer can submit packages for estimating, purchasing and fabrication from Tekla Structures with a single-click integration to Tekla PowerFab steel fabrication management software. This enables real-time synchronization of material profiles, project statuses, and submittals, allowing detailers to access current information and receive feedback from fabricators. As a result, the need for RFIs and manual updates is reduced, improving workflow efficiency for detailing companies. For fabricators, this helps minimize production waste and reduces the reliance on unplanned material purchases.
Live Collaboration
The Live Collaboration service (new as a preview* in Tekla Structures 2025) enables working in the same model using either Trimble Connect or Tekla Structures. It allows project stakeholders to adopt a model-based review of progress – a leap forward from drawing-based workflows.
TrimBIM
Tekla Structures 2025 introduces enhanced workflows for both IFC and the TrimBIM format, improving data exchange efficiency. Integration with the Trimble Connect common data environment enables granular data exchange, allowing selective sharing of task-specific deliverables and appending model metadata to streamline BIM coordination. This enhancement supports collaboration, improving alignment between design intent and fabrication execution.
Field-to-office Integration and Visibility
The new version of Tekla Structures provides improved integrations to help stakeholders in the office and the field work together. Integration with the Trimble Reality Capture platform service enables users to collaborate in point clouds and 3D models without consuming local hardware resources.
The revamping of the Layout Manager functionality in Tekla Structures 2025 enhances clarity into as-built checks from the site and provides guidance from the office. The improvements enable co-ordination with project surveyors by integrating model data with field operations.
Further Improvements for Detailing Efficiency
Tekla Structures 2025 introduces usability and performance enhancements in property panes and drawing properties dialogs to improve workflow efficiency. The 2025 version also includes updates for rebar detailing, such as “Reinforcement Sequence Numbering” within pours or cast units, supporting both manufacturing processes and on-site work while ensuring compliance. Additionally, improvements to Rebar Sets extend their applicability to a wider range of structures, including ramps and water drainage slabs with openings.
“Trimble fully embraces connected workflows as the key to building better, faster, safer, cheaper and greener,” said Oxana Kyllönen, product manager, Trimble. “Our Tekla portfolio centers around the concept of connecting multidisciplinary teams in construction around enriched BIM information. The 2025 version of Tekla Structures adds new layers of data quality and information flow for teams working with all materials and in all roles across the construction continuum, helping them to deliver with confidence.”
*A preview feature may be enhanced, updated or discontinued at any time in response to feedback. It is provided “as is” without any Trimble warranty or indemnity.
