NEW YORK, NY and ZALTBOMMEL, Netherlands, June 4, 2025 – UltiMaker has introduced the UltiMaker S6, a 3D printer for professionals in engineering, manufacturing, and maintenance domains. The system is built for practical applications – such as functional prototyping, production support, and on-the-spot repairs. Its design reflects the needs of teams looking to scale additive manufacturing in a cost-conscious way, without compromising on technical capabilities. The S6 is designed for real-world use, with an emphasis on performance and seamless integration into existing production workflows.
The UltiMaker S6 is built with productivity in mind. It reaches print speeds up to 500 mm/s and accelerates at 50,000 mm/s², using the UltiMaker Cheetah motion planner to reduce print times by 4x than its predecessor. The dual extrusion system remains a core feature, allowing for multi-material prints while relying on a single material station, which simplifies material handling and minimizes idle time. The printer also comes with two build plate options: a flexible plate for general applications and a glass plate for use cases that demand higher cleanliness standards, such as medical or food-related parts.
The S6 is backward compatible with the UltiMaker S5, which has sold more than 40,000 units globally. Material stations, air managers, print cores, and materials are interchangeable across the entire S series. For larger manufacturing operations, previously sliced parts can be reused, keeping production flowing without the need to recreate files. The S6 retains the interface and ecosystem of earlier UltiMaker models, allowing users familiar with previous systems to begin using it with additional training. It is designed for reliable print quality and is the first in the lineup to include a 24-month warranty – twice the standard coverage – indicating confidence in long-term reliability.
“We’re excited for the UltiMaker S6. It has the same build quality and reliability that we’ve become accustomed to over the last five years with our S5 printer,” said Erik Schwartz, owner/driver of U.S.-based Schwartz Off Road Motorsportz. “At the same time, the S6’s faster print speeds mean we can move faster and more agilely. Downtime is detrimental to our fast-paced design process, and our team doesn’t have the bandwidth to wait days for a print or perform complex repairs. This means squeezing out one more iteration on a design before leaving for a race weekend.”
Sophie Grebert, owner of France-based DP3D, commented, “The S6 delivers the speed and reliability we need, with the reassurance of a well-integrated, proven ecosystem. It has become a valuable and efficient part of our daily operations, together with the UltiMaker S8 that we recently bought.”
The S6 integrates with UltiMaker’s software, materials, and hardware ecosystem, powered by UltiMaker Cura and UltiMaker Digital Factory. Through Digital Factory, Cura Cloud enables remote slicing, management, and printing, supporting distributed workflows. The S6 is compatible with over 300 materials for diverse application needs.
“The S6 is about giving our users more – more speed, more versatility, and more freedom – without needing to start from scratch,” says Marc Uyttenboogaard, product manager at UltiMaker. “We’ve kept everything users love about the S5 and made it even better, while ensuring backward compatibility to protect our customers’ investments long term.”
The S6 is manufactured at UltiMaker’s facility in the Netherlands, which operates under ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certifications for quality and environmental management. These standards support the production requirements of sectors like aerospace, automotive, and defense, where process control and regulatory compliance are essential.
“This launch is about delivering exceptional value to customers at a time when businesses are under pressure to do more with less,” says Andy Middleton, UltiMaker SVP EMEA & global marketing. “With the S6, UltiMaker reaffirms its mission to make professional 3D printing more accessible, adaptable, and future-ready than ever before.”
